8mm / Super 8 Film Conversion
Preserve your family memories by converting your 8mm or Super 8 film reels to a convenient digital format.
This service applies to one reel of the size and footage listed on this product page. Pricing is based on the reel’s physical size and maximum film capacity, so larger reels are priced separately.
Each reel is individually loaded, transferred, monitored, and processed using our film-conversion equipment. Because film transfers occur in real time, larger reels require substantially more machine time and handling.

USB Drive Required for Physical Delivery
USB media is a separate product charge and must be added to your order if you would like your converted films delivered on a USB drive.
For security, compatibility, reliability, and quality-control purposes, Gingerbread Productions does not accept customer-supplied USB drives. We provide our own name-brand USB media so that we can maintain a consistent workflow and reduce the risk of malware, corrupted media, incompatible drives, or other issues that could affect our equipment or your completed files.
The standard USB charge is $10 per USB drive, with approximately one USB drive required for every 10 film reels, depending on the size and resulting file sizes of the transfers.
If your project requires additional USB drives, each additional drive must be purchased separately.
Film Condition & Additional Work
The standard conversion price assumes that the film is in reasonably good condition and can be transferred using normal handling.
Film requiring multiple repairs, repeated splicing, extensive preparation, manual feeding, repeated restarts, unusual intervention, or other additional labor may incur an additional service charge. Whenever practical, we will advise you if significant additional work appears necessary.
Damaged, Contaminated, or Unsafe Film
Gingerbread Productions reserves the right to decline or discontinue the transfer of any reel that may pose a risk to our staff, workspace, or equipment.
This may include, but is not limited to, film that:
- Is excessively brittle, deteriorated, warped, sticky, or otherwise severely damaged
- Requires an unreasonable amount of manual intervention to safely pass through the equipment
- Has a strong, unusual, chemical, musty, mold-like, or otherwise concerning odor
- Shows evidence of mold, contamination, moisture damage, residue, pests, or other potentially hazardous conditions
- Could reasonably damage, contaminate, or interfere with our film-transfer equipment
Acceptance of a reel for initial inspection does not guarantee that it can be safely transferred. If we determine during inspection or transfer that continuing could damage the film, our equipment, or create a health or safety concern, we may stop the transfer.
